With Gravel Worlds next weekend, we decided to take it a little easier this week so instead of gravel we opted for a spin through Wilderness Park.
N Street got some new signage also, same cyclist missing hands, feet and a bike frame, still with the same WOK for a helmet but now with new improved eye openings! You would think he'd want to watch where he was riding rather than looking to the side.
It's been a while since we were last in the Park, missed this place... it might not have felt the same way since we got our first flat on the very first section.
Park was in great shape, a few sections where it had just gotten a haircut made it hard to see the trail under all the freshly cut grass but we were grateful for the mowing. Thanks Lincoln Park and Rec.
This is Dave, Dave's got a new sweet Yella Mukluk that he likes to ride fast; this is also the last picture taken of Dave before he picked a fight with a stump and the stump won. You'd think that with tires that big they would roll over everything but apparently stumps still beat fat tires, luckily Dave was ok despite going down pretty hard.
Missed our usual bridge stops, might have to work a little single track back into the weekly rides before the summer is over.
Riding Wilderness also meant that we done much sooner than we usually are with the Saturday rides, we were on the hunt for lunch around noon and the ride was already done.
Originally we had planned to head to Honest Abe's downtown but our advanced party told us they were super busy with a line out the door, so we ended up at Blue Blood. Not that Blue Blood isn't a great place to eat and get a beverage mind you, we were just trying to get somewhere we hadn't been in a bit.
I'm a sucker for Bloody Marys and didn't realize that Blue Blood had one until we ran into a buddy of mine who happens to be one of the head brewers there and his S.O. was drinking one... while not all crazy with sliders, chicken wings and the lot like some of them I have had it was pretty good. Might have to keep that in mind for the future. Blue Blood was the last stop on the SMNDFBR train and once we had eaten and drank to our hearts content it was the end of another great ride. Thanks to all who came out, as always great riding with you all.
No ride next week since almost all of us will be riding in either the 75 mile Privateer or the full 150 Gravel Worlds. Speaking of, even if you aren't racing in Gravel Worlds there will also be an Expo next Friday from 10 am to 7 pm at the shop during check in that is open to everyone. SRAM, Club Ride, Shimano, Yakima, Light & Motion, and Salsa Cycles will all be there with bikes or products on display that you can try out. In addition there will also be some local vendors serving up delicious treats like grilled bacon wrapped hot dogs, so even if you aren't registered you should still come down and check out the festivities.
