Heatstroke 100?
Had the heatstroke 100 today and thankfully it was anything but, temps were in the 60-70s and overcast which made for perfect riding weather. It was supposed to be a group ride but the "group" bailed and since I had already registered and paid I decided to go anyway.

Rained but didn't pour
We got a little bit of rain last night but it didn't get enough to fit the saying "When it rains, it pours", more of a lazy sprinkle but at this point any moisture is better than none. Hit the park the morning for a little dirt, rain didn't do much to the singletrack except maybe cut the dust down a bit.
Trails were in great shape!
Except maybe this section... biker didn't do that, just another obstacle to tackle on the fly. Actually there were lots of flies on the obstacle as well.
Crossing even had a little bit of water trickling through it, last week this was bone dry. Damn bike thinks it's a super model or something, sneaks into quite a few pictures... a couple of innocent compliments and you have a monster on your hands.
Who am I kidding, red on black, shiny and dead sexy!

The sun doesn't always shine
Tried to get a ride in this morning, got up looked at the forecast and promptly went back to bed. Temps were good but 23+ mph winds and 50-60% chance of rain wasn't quite what I had in mind. So I ended up with plan B, a ride at night.
Didn't really have anywhere in particular to go so I decided to check out the new Lincoln Amtrak station... not too shabby.
Arena is coming along as well, might be open by 2014.
Bridge over 27th is finally open though so there's that, only took them the majority of the summer to get er done, thank god nobody uses it in the summer time or it would have been really inconvenient. Temps in the mid 60's and just a gentle breeze made for a heck of a night to ride.

Nooner...
Hit up the park on Wednesday during lunch with a couple of guys from work, unbelievable how dry Wilderness Park is right now, even the usually wet parts are bone dry... must be some sort of drought going on.
The water crossing is completely dry, I can't remember the last time I've ever seen it without at least a trickle going through it... earlier this year it was so high you couldn't even cross it and now nada. It is amazing that despite the lack of rain this year the park is still so green and lush. All in all it's been a good year for biking despite the high temps and the lack of moisture, well moisture in the form of rain I've been making plenty of sweaty moisture but I doubt that counts. Miles are just piling on for me this year, I about 200 miles short of my entire mileage for all of last year... good year for biking.
